Applications are accepted at any time throughout the year. However, the review and approval process may take up to 90 days. So be sure to apply at least three months before funds are needed. The Board considers grants four times per year.
Letters of request are due on the following dates which are approximately 8 weeks prior to Board meetings:
2008
- Jan. 25
- April 15
- July 22
- Nov. 25 (for January 2009 board consideration)
Please note: the Foundation considers just one request per year from an organization.
Step One
If your organization and grant request meet the Eligibility Qualifications for a PGE Foundation grant, please mail a one-page letter to the Foundation (by one of the dates above) that includes the following information:
- Describe your organization and the project for which you are seeking funding.
- Who will the project benefit? Describe the population who will gain from your project. Include the geographic area and approximate number of people served.
- Are you receiving or seeking funds from other sources? In some cases, the Foundation gives preference to organizations actively seeking funding from more than one source.
- State the total amount of funding needed for your project, the amount you're seeking from the PGE Foundation and the date funds are needed.
Mail (no faxes, please) your one-page description to:
PGE Foundation
One World Trade Center, 3rd Floor
121 SW Salmon Street
Portland, OR 97204
Step Two
A pre-screening committee will review your one-page description and contact you within 30 days. If that committee believes your project is an appropriate candidate for Foundation funding, you will be invited to complete a full application and will receive further instructions.
Step Three
Your full application will be reviewed by a grant review committee, which may or may not recommend it to the Board of Directors for approval. This stage of the application process can take up to two months.
